in response to christmas spirit...   Hello, I am applying for a friend and past co-worker of mine. I am a social worker who normally helps people in these type of situations but have also been through tough times. The non-profit family support agency I worked for had major budget cuts and I lost my job. I have been struggling myself, but am still helping past clients and friends with my knowledge of community programs and such. Yesterday I received a telephone call from my friend, whom I had not heard from in a while. She had been lost as in what to do for assistance when she too lost her job around the same time I did. I am trying to help her, though I know it is so close to the holiday right now. She has a 5 year old son, unemployed, and many of her bills are past due or services have been cut off.
This is a deserving family. She had a recent job interview and is praying for the best! She is one who does not take advantage of charity or government assistance programs. I have seen my share of those who live off the government in my line of work!
